How it works, from first click to ongoing support

1. Free private check (about 5 minutes)

   You answer a short set of questions: your age, where in Canada you live, what your goal is right now (drink less, stop, or still deciding), and the AUDIT questionnaire, a standard ten-question screening tool developed by the World Health Organization. We also ask two safety questions, about past withdrawal symptoms and about opioid medications, because they matter for planning safe care.

   There is no payment step, no credit card field, and no judgment. Your answers save automatically. If you need to stop, you can come back later and nothing is lost.

2. Full online assessment

   If the pathway fits, you complete a fuller intake: your health history, current medications, drinking pattern, goal, and preferences. It is organized into short sections, one idea at a time, and everything autosaves. You upload a piece of government ID so the clinician can verify who they are treating; a person reviews it, stored securely in Canada.

3. Pharmacy review, then your clinician assessment

   Carebridge's pharmacy staff review your file first: checking it is complete, noting any safety flags, and answering questions about coverage or delivery. They then arrange your assessment with an independent, licensed BC physician or nurse practitioner at one of our partner clinics. You will be told which clinic and clinician you are being connected with. The clinician reviews your file, exercises their own clinical judgment, and, where appropriate, prescribes medication for alcohol use. They may also recommend a different path, such as in-person or medically supervised care, if that is safer for you. Completing the assessment does not guarantee a prescription; it guarantees a careful, honest evaluation.

   For BC residents with MSP, this assessment is billed to MSP by the clinician, so there is no visit fee. If you live elsewhere in Canada, or do not have MSP, the assessment is not covered and a private fee applies, shown in full before you commit; see pricing and coverage.

4. Dispensing and delivery

   If medication is prescribed, Carebridge Pharmacy can dispense it. The pharmacists check the prescription against PharmaNet, BC's medication record system, review your drug coverage (many private plans, and for eligible medications PharmaCare, may help), and answer your questions. Delivery is free and discreet anywhere in BC, in plain packaging, or you can pick up at 101-4484 Main Street in Vancouver. Outside BC, staff confirm whether delivery to your province is possible or transfer the prescription to a pharmacy near you.

   You are always free to have your prescription filled at any pharmacy you choose. Carebridge is the coordinating partner, never a requirement.

5. Pharmacist follow-up

   Change takes time, and doses or plans sometimes need adjusting. Carebridge pharmacists follow up with you, discreetly and with your consent, to see how things are going, answer questions, and coordinate with your prescriber when something needs a clinical decision.

What if the timing is wrong, or you change your mind?

Then nothing bad happens. You can pause the assessment indefinitely and resume with a secure link. You can complete it and decide not to proceed. You can start with a reduction goal and later aim for abstinence, or the reverse. This is your process; we hold the door open, and you walk through it when you are ready.
